TRAPPED

Trapped takes on life’s social infrastructure, challenging the viewer to recognize the ways we are tuned and trapped by these forces—relationships, religion, politics, and society. This work was inspired by a blood-stained rat trap found in my studio during the tail end of the COVID pandemic. It was a time of reflecting the pervasive sense of entrapment felt when the world locked down. The rat trap became a metaphor for memories of my life and current events. The use of symbolic materials urges us to stay true to ourselves and resist becoming sheep in need of direction.
